The Election in Chaos
The race to 270 electoral votes after yesterday's polling places close, marking the end of the elections, came as a surprise as media outlets refuse to call the election in favor of any candidate because mailed-in ballots are not yet counted.
The election night opened with a surge of blue states as Joe Biden leads in several smaller states. But as it came later into the night, key battleground states reported results, and as early projections came in, red states started appearing on the US map, most of which are vote rich especially in the places of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Joe Biden did not concede as a red US map appeared on the news. People are then calling for the counting of all ballots and not to disenfranchise Americans. President Trump afterwards appeared on television in the wee hours of the morning, claiming that he won big in key swing states and his leads on those areas are simply big enough to delay any more canvassing in his favor.
There are many people who warned of this scenario, with Trump saying he will not accept the outcome when he loses. The media even called the President irresponsible as he claimed a huge election victory. Later on in his speech, President Trump also said he will bring the matter to the Supreme Court.
The US election should not have been this chaotic if not for the pandemic that forced most people to vote on post. There are also people who are scattered across their state, and the polling places are simply too far from their homes, so they have no other choice but to mail their ballots as well.
Commercial establishments are preparing for any civil unrest as the election turned into allegations of mass cheating as states continue to flip from red to blue. The election landscape came into unimaginable chaos as no winner is called. It is very surprising that nobody conceded on election night, and this does not reflect America's mature democracy at all.
Ultimately, a winner must be proclaimed, and President Trump is not taking any more of it. In a claimed huge election victory, and since George W. Bush, the Supreme Court might be deciding the election for us again. An appointed group of nine people deciding for our votes may sound intrinsically wrong, but we have no other choice in a period of chaos and misinformation.
