Vicious Cycle
We know for a fact that the threat of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus is real and existing, as it sent countries into lockdown again without any glimpse on how long and why such stringent measures are needed to be in place anew.
Experts are saying that this variant of the virus is more infectious than the initial pathogen that its rapid spread worries health officials, which is enough reason to take drastic moves to close down borders and regulate mobility within and without national boundaries.
A recent test of COVID-19 resilience was displayed by the staging of the recently concluded Tokyo 2020 Summer Games, a quadrennial meeting of the world's athletes that competes in various sports within the Olympic program. The Games gave us hope amid the pandemic that dampens the human spirit, giving a great reminder to the world that the Olympics can be a source of unity and strength, that together we can become stronger and united by a common resolve amid fear and panic.
If there was anything that can be learned from this vicious cycle of lockdowns and COVID-19 casualties, it is coming to a conclusion that life must go on, whatever the situation that we are currently in. As we look forward into achieving herd immunity and finally get back to our normal lives again, the pandemic has etched a place in human history that tells the story of the two sides of inconvenient thought.
As we leave everything behind, lockdown or no, whatever humanity had to endure to survive health, environmental hazards and the year 2021, our lives reek of the same vicious cycle. We cannot wait to do what we normally did, as we are left stuck in our homes for a very long time. Just as the virus moves to multiply inside our bodies, we are hoping to get into survival mode again by going back to work, enjoying the moment, watching entertainment, and helping the economy get back into track again.
